Frequently Asked Questions
How much will my repair cost?
Our labor rate is $120 per hour. For a 30 minute look-over to identify potential issues with your bike, it is $60. If you proceed with services, this cost is rolled over into hours worked.
Do I need an appointment, or do you take walk-ins?
Please call prior to coming to the shop. We have limited space and often are not able to accommodate walk-ins that have their bikes in-hand. So, are we able to do same-day service either? Generally, no.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Our business is cash preferred. We do accept credit or debit cards. For cards, we have to charge a 3% service fee, per our terminal's policy. Payments must be made in person, not accepted over the phone.
We do NOT accept American Express cards or checks. We do not offer financing.
Do you accept all makes and models?
We do accept most motorcycles for services like oil changes. However, we will not perform internal engine or transmission work on foreign makes. We do not do fuel injection repair.
How can I contact you?
You can reach us by phone number ONLY. Our shop is pretty old school. Computers aren't our friend.
Do you service older or custom bikes?
Yes! This is our primary business function.
How soon can you start work?
This depends on our current workload. Our shop is fairly small. Please call first.
Why won't my motorcycle start?
One of the reasons: you're probably out of gas! Other reasons include a clogged carburetor, your bike is in need of a tune-up or it needs a new battery.
What does a full service include, and how often should I do it?
This depends on the bike. Generally, the rule of thumb is to get your motorcycle serviced every 3,000-5,000 miles. A full service (depending on make and model) includes: all engine, primary and transmission fluids changed, air pressure check, and a lube of the pivot points. This service takes ~1.5 hours.
Can you fix electrical issues?
Electrical? Yes. Electronic? No.
What happens if additional issues are found?
We will call you. Our county law mandates that for your protection and ours, we must obtain a signed work order before ANY services are performed.
Can someone else drop my bike off for me?
We can accept this if the OWNER of the motorcycle has signed the work order.
Do you have parts in stock?
We have a very limited supply of stock. Most parts generally need to be ordered. We have some basics, but since we work a lot on older bikes, it is hard to know what parts you'll need.
Do you install aftermarket parts?
Short answer: Yes. BUT, if the part was not purchased through us, there will be no warranty on the parts or on the labor.
Do you do custom builds or modifications?
Yes! However, these types of projects require a very lengthy discussion. We are often more able to accommodate this in the off season, wintertime.
Do you offer pick-up, towing or off-site work?
No. No. And no.
Can you show me what's wrong with my motorcycle?
If the issue is electrical, we are unable to show you the issue. Otherwise, it truly depends on the problem.
Do you do photos or updates during service?
We do not take photos. But, again, we will call you during service to give you updates, by law!
Do you perform state inspections?
On certain models, we are Maryland State Inspection certified. Please call to confirm your model is one we can inspect.
Are you able to get my bike ready for riding season?
Generally, yes. This is a service we are able to provide. We do not offer winterization services.
What should I check before a long ride?
Gas, oil, tire pressure. Short story: EVERYTHING!
